University of Houston forward TaShawn Thomas was named Conference USA player of the week on Monday.
Thomas averaged 21 points and 10.5 rebounds in wins against TCU and Texas Southern. Against TCU, the 6-8 sophomore had 19 points and 12 rebounds for his team-leading fifth double-double of the season. He had a career high-tying 23 points and nine rebounds in the Cougars’ 78-75 overtime win against TSU.
For the season, Thomas leads the team in scoring (17.6) and rebounds (10.6), joining Tulane’s Josh Davis as the only players to be ranked among the league’s top two in both categories.
